Sustainability is a central tenet of all Poggenpohl's activities. Responsibility for future generations is firmly anchored in the corporate culture of this company with a history dating back more than 110 years. Today, Poggenpohl not only follows the strict guidelines of the Nobia Group's Environmental Policy (see Nobia Sustainability Environmental Policy), but goes even further: Poggenpohl products are exclusively made from wood grown by sustainable forest management and all the paints and lacquers used in production are solvent-free.
All Poggenpohl products are manufactured exclusively in the East-Westphalian town of Herford. Most of the company's suppliers – around 80% - are also located in the region. In this way, ecological standards can be consistently checked and enforced. Moreover, the short distances permit transport with minimum environmental im-pact. For its latest product, the P'7340 kitchen developed in col-laboration with Porsche Design, Poggenpohl has developed an inno-vative carcase based on a honeycomb board. As a result, 40% less material is required and the parts simultaneously become lighter. Poggenpohl is aware of its environmental responsibility and acts ac-cordingly. For this reason, Poggenpohl is constantly looking for new possibilities of using environmentally beneficial materials and sus-tainable manufacturing methods.
